Bright spark, Danny Moore, one of our ex-pupils has gained some fantastic experience in the Creative Digital sector and has not forgotten his old school along the way. Instead Danny has been busy liaising with Saint Paul’s and has been involved in organising visits to his work place, SharpFutures, to inspire the creatives of the future.
SharpFutures is a Manchester-based creative digital agency based at The Sharp Project that supports young people into employment. Danny started his time at SharpFutures on an apprenticeship in Advanced Marketing and started with the role of Apprentice Communicator. This meant that he was involved in many tasks including Marketing and PR. He is now the Marketing & Social Media Executive for SharpFutures and has worked with a number of well-known clients such as the NHS, Jaguar, The Sharp Project and The Space Project.
Even though he’s been extremely busy with his expanding and demanding career, Danny has also been a part of SharpFutures Creative Digital Experience Days’, an initiative supported by Manchester City Council and delivered by SharpFutures at The Sharp Project. Here he has worked with schools and has held workshops teaching the children the basics of Social Media Marketing and how they can turn their love for Social Media in to a high earning career. He has not forgotten his old school, Saint Paul’s, and arranged a fascinating day at SharpFutures so that the pupils could learn more about the creative digital sector.
Danny explained: “I really enjoyed my time at Saint Paul’s and the learning I experienced there laid the foundations for me to begin work at SharpFutures. Whilst at SharpFutures, I have picked up many skills which have enabled me to know what I want to do in my career; these skills and experience have also enabled that career to be possible.
I have been lucky enough to have had master classes from leading experts in the industry teaching me about the Creative Digital sector. After sitting various master classes, I am now highly experienced in Social Media Marketing, many aspects of Digital Marketing such as Search Engine Optimisation, User Experience and much more.”
“Danny is now looking to become a Social Media/Digital Marketing Consultant as his future career,” said Mr Mike Whiteside, Assistant Headteacher at Saint Paul’s. “He has already pitched for and won work himself for his future business outside of SharpFutures.”
Mr Whiteside added: “Danny’s time at SharpFutures has enabled him to plan out his career and gain the skills necessary to be successful. It has been an amazing experience for him and he’s got a lot to look forward to in the future. We are very proud of his success.”
“Danny has been given a taste of what life in the creative digital industry is all about, he’s risen to the challenge and has developed some extremely valuable skills which will support his future career,” commented Mrs Fiona Minshall, Head Teacher at Saint Paul’s. “He has shown great determination and commitment to make in-roads into a very advanced and competitive industry. In addition to the excellent opportunity to develop skills and see what work in this sector is really like, his time at SharpFutures has increased his self-confidence, self-knowledge, motivation and independence and allowed him to develop outstanding communication skills.”
