Key Stage 3
French is taught to all pupils in year 7
In year 8: 8U1 studies both French and Italian and all other sets continue with French.
In year 9: 9U1 study both French and Italian, 9U2 study French only, 9U3 through to 9S4 study Spanish.
Key Stage 4
Pupils can opt to study French, Italian or Spanish at KS4.
Pupils in KS4 Year 10 and 11 follow either the full GCSE course in French (AQA), Spanish (AQA) or Italian (AQA).
GCSE Full courses are weighted as follows:
Speaking 30% (Controlled Assessment)
Writing 30%(Controlled Assessment)
The Writing and Speaking examinations both consist of two prepared tasks/ controlled assessments set by the teaching staff in school under guidance from the exam board and are sat when it is appropriate for the pupils concerned.
The Reading and Listening examinations are externally set by the exam board.
