During Key Stage 3 pupils study a broad and balanced curriculum. At Key Stage 4, to allow more time for subjects to be studied in depth, an element of choice is introduced.
The options booklet (available for download below) contains details of the courses available in Key Stage 4. It is designed to help pupils and parents understand the implications of option choices and to assist pupils , in particular, to make wise choices based on their own individual strengths, interests and ambitions for the future.
All pupils in Key Stage 4 will study the core subjects of English Language and English Literature, Mathematics, Combined Science and Religious Education. Pupils will then be asked to choose further subject(s) depending on their pathway.
This year, pupils will be placed in one of two pathways. The GREEN pathway which includes the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) subjects and the BLUE pathway which includes a broad range of qualifications which have been carefully selected to meet the individual needs of our pupils.
Each pupil will be interviewed regarding their option choices and their progress data will be taken into account so that they can be sure that they are making the right choice for them.
Please know that we will do all we can at school to support you and your child through this exciting time and if you have any questions you only have to ask.
Working together, we will ensure that your child realises their full potential and can go on to achieve great things in their further education and beyond.
