Year 8 pupils enjoyed an incredible visit to Chester Zoo following on from their workshops focusing on sustainability and the issues associated with palm oil. Pupils were able to see for themselves the vulnerable species they had been studying, including orangutans and rhinoceros hornbills.
The over-consumption of natural resources threaten both wildlife and humanity. Chester Zoo is leading by example and engaging students in a vital dialogue and debate on environmental issues with the aim of achieving a more sustainable society.
Acting sustainably means meeting the needs of the present without harming or compromising the future – or, to put it more simply, giving back at least as much as we take from nature.
