Science Reward

Exciting and fun science lessons were organised to reward excellent learning and a positive attitude to Science by Year 7 and Year 8 students at Saint Paul’s Catholic High School which proved to be a huge success.

Each Science teacher selected a group of students from their classes to participate in the rewards lessons based on their behaviour, effort and enthusiasm in class. The students were then given an invitation to the rewards lessons.

Mr Bowen, Science teacher, said: “In Science we have a real focus on ensuring that all students are given regular opportunities to be acknowledged for their effort and enthusiasm in lessons as well as academic progress. We wanted to reward excellent engagement and effort in Science over the last year, the Science department organised exciting experiment sessions where the students could carry out some of the best practical’s science has to offer. It has been an absolute pleasure organising these rewards lessons and I can’t wait to run some more!”

Mr McMahon, Head of Science, added: “These reward lessons, have captured the imagination and interest of our learners. Students were incredibly proud to be invited to take part in the rewards lessons and this has then resulted in them remaining more engaged and positive in their regular science lessons.”

“We hope that as a result of students having a such a positive experience in Science, they might consider continuing their learning into higher education and maybe even a career in science. But most of all, we just hope that they enjoy our subject and spending time learning all the wonders science has to offer.”
