Prayer

The core values of our school are seen as the foundation of our students’ attitudes. Students will have many opportunities to develop their faith and make a difference in the lives of the community through the work we do at St Paul’s.

Our namesake, St Paul, says in his letter to the Corinthians that ‘there is nothing that love cannot face.’ Through love, guidance and care; staff, students and parents of St Pauls are able to work and grow in a caring environment.

We believe that there should be regular opportunities for our community to join together in prayer and reflection. We strive to provide a rich variety of prayer and liturgical experiences through exploration of both formal and informal ways of talking to and listening to God.

At St Paul’s we aim to foster the growth of our students and staff, through having a relationship with God. Each week we join together to celebrate and learn, through reflection and prayer, from the teachings of the Gospels. Our goal is to allow God to permeate through our community and become the catalyst for students to build lasting relationships not only with each other but with the community that they are in.

Through prayer experiences, prayer stations, the Rosary and Stations of the Cross students have the opportunity to experience prayer in all its forms. Our purpose is for our pupils to discover a personal way to communicate with God and a confidence in leading others in prayer.

In the same way it is important that we provide time and space for our staff to pray.

All staff meetings/briefings begin with a prayer or reflection, these are often led by staff members themselves. We also provide opportunities for whole staff, individuals and departments to take part in, prepare and lead reflections in the chapel throughout the academic year.

Praying as community helps engage us together as a family. Each morning pupils along with their Form Tutors, with the support of the school Chaplain, have an opportunity to pray together. They reflect on global/local events and pray for those affected. This encourages a sense of empathy and global responsibility for our neighbours.

Our School Prayer

Dear Lord

Thank you for our school community.

Bless us all and keep us safe.

Send your Spirit to guide us, as  we become the people you want us to be.

Be with us on our journey as we learn to love and love to learn.

Through Christ, Our Lord.

Amen.
