Saint Paul’s Champions Community Clean-Up

At Saint Paul’s Catholic High School, the importance of litter in the community is taken very seriously. The school has been actively encouraging students to take responsibility for their own litter, fostering a culture of respect and environmental stewardship.

Supporting The Great British Clean in the Community

As part of their ongoing efforts, Saint Paul’s participated in The Great British Clean where Student Ambassadors, along with Mr. Casey, Mr Whiteside and the Wythenshawe Waste Warriors, embarked on a litter pick in the local area. This hands-on activity aimed to reinforce the values of respect and care for the environment. The school believes it is essential to instill a sense of pride and responsibility in students towards their communities and surroundings.

Positive Feedback from Residents

The initiative was met with enthusiastic approval from local residents. Many took the time to phone and email the school, expressing their appreciation for the students’ efforts and their polite and friendly demeanour. Mr. Casey, Pastoral Assistant, highlighted the significance of this feedback, noting the positive impact on both the students and the community.

Instilling Respect and Awareness

Mrs. Delaney, Assistant Headteacher, emphasised that respect is a core value at Saint Paul’s. She hopes that events like this will instill a deep respect for the wider community in the students.

Mrs. Delaney added: “It is good to raise awareness and to be able to discuss the impact of littering to our students who are passionate about taking care of our environment.”

Looking Ahead

Saint Paul’s plans to continue such initiatives, reinforcing the values of responsibility, respect, and environmental stewardship among their students. The success of this community litter pick serves as a testament to the positive influence schools can have on their local communities.
