Saint Paul’s Catholic High School recently hosted a vibrant and heart-warming International Evening, celebrating the rich diversity within its community. The event was a beautiful mix of music, dance, poetry, and shared traditions, bringing together students, families, and staff in a spirit of unity and joy.

The evening began with a warm welcome from the Head Boy, Head Girl and the John 10:10 group, who greeted guests in multiple languages and led a prayer focused on community and celebrating diversity. Their heartfelt introduction set the tone for an evening filled with cultural pride and connection.

The Diversity Council followed with a presentation highlighting the incredible range of backgrounds represented in the school, reinforcing the importance of inclusion and mutual respect.
A series of stunning performances showcased global traditions:
• A group of ladies performed Thiruvatira, a traditional dance from Kerala, India, typically seen during the Onam festival. Dancing around a lit lamp, they sang praises to God, captivating the audience with grace and rhythm.
• The Młody Polonez Polish Dance Troupe brought energy and charm, even tossing flowers into the crowd during their lively routine.
• India read two powerful poems: Heroine in My Life by Roland Bankole Marke and Be Still Sierra Leone by Patricia Ngadie Baby Bashiru-Kargbo.
• Faith sang How Are You My Friend by Jonnhy Drille, touching hearts with her soulful voice.
• The Nigerian National Anthem was beautifully performed by Peace and Chinenye, evoking pride and emotion.
• Wojciech entertained the audience with a fun segment of Polish tongue twisters.
• The Year 8 dancers brought modern flair with their performance of Tshwala Bam Remix by Titom Yuppe Ft Burna Boy & SNE EEQUE.
• Amelka sang Szampan by Sanah9, adding a contemporary Polish pop vibe to the evening.
• Aoife performed a lively Slip Jig, while Eva played the Ace and Deuce of Pipering, both showcasing traditional Irish tunes with skill and passion.
The evening also featured fantastic performances by the Saint Paul’s Choir and the Fianna Phadraig Pipe Band.
Guests enjoyed a shared table of foods from around the world, a playlist of international music, and a quiz, making the event interactive and engaging. The John 10:10 group did a fantastic job comparing the evening, bringing enthusiasm and humour to the stage.
The night concluded with a closing prayer, once again led by the John 10:10 group, reminding everyone of the power of community and the beauty of diversity.
