Students at St Paul’s are enjoying Debate Mate sessions where university students come into school to run extra-curricular debate workshops.
We are excited to be the hosting school for the next regional round of Debate Mate’s inter-school competitions on Tuesday 23 January!!
The Debate Mate programmes increase speaking and listening attainment and improve a range of higher-order thinking skills and non-cognitive abilities such as confidence, teamwork, and leadership.
At the same time as focusing on debating skills, the sessions look at raising aspirations and helping students to make informed post-18 choices.
Students are also able to enjoy the free food which is provided at the sessions and they get to take part in competitions against others schools.
Debate Mate supports the young people of today to find their voices, so that they can become the leaders of tomorrow!
