At Harvest time we had an important opportunity to show our support for the Afghan refugees who are currently staying at the airport hotel in Manchester.
They are only given £6 a week for the cost of transport and for food which does not go a very long way at all. This is why Caritas have asked us specifically this year to only help those Afghan refugees currently granted asylum after fleeing Afghanistan since the Taliban took power several years ago.
For the Harvest Collection this year we collected non-perishable food items to ensure these refugees have access to culturally appropriate meals.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in this initiative which will make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need. It was wonderful to see everyone in our school community come together as a compassionate group and demonstrate our stewardship and respect for others.
“The collection has been amazing, it’s genuinely inspiring to see how much the school can achieve together,” commented Mr Iqbal, RE teacher.
The volunteers from CARITAS charity who collected the donations were extremely grateful and overwhelmed with generosity of the Saint Paul’s family.
Thank you for joining this effort and making a difference.
