Saint Paul’s brought the music of Queen to life in the smash-hit musical We Will Rock You, a show written by Ben Elton based on the songs of Queen. An absolute rock theatrical!
We Will Rock You was a nostalgic musical experience and a chance to hear those iconic hits one more time. Set in a future where live music and musical instruments are banned, an unlikely group of misfits sets off on a quest to discover the truth behind the legend of a mythical band called Queen. It was the perfect opportunity to deliver Queen classic hits – and a few laughs – as live music battles the evils of a soulless, virtual world!
The show followed the adventures of Galileo (played magnificently by Erin Dizon and Callum Lisgo) and Scaramuche (stunning performance by Lily Grace O’Hare) as they strived to break free from a world where everyone thinks the same and songs have been banned. Along the way they are arrested by the Ga Ga Cops, led by Will Bagshaw as an amazing Commander Khashoggi, face the anger of the Killer Queen (outstanding performance by Skye Mitchell), encounter the Bohemian rebels and even find time to fall in love before triumphantly finding the planet’s last musical instrument.
Mr Warburton who directed the show, said: “What a cast! I was extremely proud of our students, they worked so hard and put so much energy into the show making it a huge success.”
“We Will Rock You was a stunning show, delivered by an accomplished cast. There were some outstanding performances and some inspired characterizations,” said Head Teacher, Mr Hren. “The show was ‘a kind of magic’ – a real spectacular, it left songs in your head and a smile on your face!”
