We are excited and very proud that two of our students had their poetry selected for Manchester City Council’s Public Health Annual Report 2026!
Orla N and Lucie O submitted beautiful pieces about growing up in the city and their hopes for future generations of young Mancunians!
The poems which they wrote were the result of an inter-school creative writing workshop called Both Sides- a powerful poetry initiative that gave young people a platform to explore and express what community means to them, where they feel they belong, and how their identities are shaped by the world around them.
Throughout the programme, students participated in workshops led by poets, professional actors and a graphic designer, who shared their own perspectives and experiences. These sessions encouraged students to reflect deeply on societal issues and to channel their thoughts into poetry. Well done to Orla and Lucie for using their words to share such powerful messages!
