School Council
The purpose of the School Council is to give the students a real voice within a manageable system and encourage the students to take ownership and responsibility for their school. At the same time it enables staff to gain students’ perspective.
School Council members represent all students in each year group at Saint Paul’s Catholic High School. They are elected by the students to represent their ideas and views.
“Our student council is a representative body elected by fellow students to advocate for their interests and enhance the overall school experience,” explained Miss Chadwick, Maths teacher. “It serves as a bridge between students and school administration, addressing concerns, organizing events, and fostering a sense of community. Through leadership, collaboration, and a commitment to positive change, our student council will play a pivotal role in shaping the school environment and promoting student engagement”.
“The School Council is a key component of the student leadership of the school,” commented Mrs Delaney, Assistant Headteacher.” It provides an opportunity for all year groups to have their say in how the school is run and developed.”
“A new school council is elected each year, with each form electing a representative to sit on the council which is run by four student ambassadors. This creates a central group that speaks on behalf of the whole school and makes decisions about school life. We value the opinions of our students and the School Council gives pupils a forum to share these opinions with the Headteacher and other members of staff in order to create positive change within the school.”
