As part of their ongoing involvement in Manchester City’s City in the Community (CITC) programme, twelve students from Saint Paul’s were recently treated to an unforgettable tour of the iconic Etihad Stadium.
Founded in 1986, City in the Community is Manchester City’s official charity. Its mission is to empower healthier lives through football, supporting individuals across Greater Manchester. With a strong focus on physical and mental wellbeing, CITC’s youth-led initiatives aim to build healthier futures and stronger communities.

Accompanied by Mrs Clayton (a passionate Manchester City supporter!), Mr Birkett, and their CITC mentor Rhys, the students were warmly welcomed by tour hosts Tim and Nathan. What followed was an immersive behind-the-scenes experience that brought the magic of matchday to life.

Highlights of the tour included:
• A virtual Q&A with Pep Guardiola in the press conference room
• An immersive audio-visual experience in the home team dressing room
• A walk down the iconic glass players’ tunnel, just like the pros
• Pitch-side access, offering a manager’s-eye view from the dugouts
• A stroll through the award-winning Tunnel Club, the stadium’s premium hospitality suite
• Insight into pre-match routines in the First Team warm-up area
Student Ava, a devoted City fan, shared her excitement:
“I really enjoyed the day. It was a great experience to see behind the scenes and how things work on match day.”
The visit not only deepened the students’ appreciation for the sport but also highlighted the powerful role football can play in inspiring and connecting communities.
