Year 10 Health & Social Care Students Visit Local Care Home

As part of their Health and Social Care studies, Year 10 students recently visited a local care home to deepen their understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and services provided within the sector. The visit formed an important element of their coursework, helping them connect classroom learning with real-life practice
The care home primarily supports residents living with dementia and Alzheimer’s, while also providing care for individuals with more general needs. This setting offered students a valuable opportunity to see first-hand how professionals deliver person-centred care in a specialist environment.
During the visit, students spent time talking with residents about their daily experiences and the support they receive. These conversations were both insightful and emotional, giving students a meaningful look into the realities of living with dementia.
Students also had the chance to speak with visiting family members, who warmly welcomed the group. Families openly shared their personal experiences of having loved ones in care and expressed how pleased they were to see young people showing interest and compassion.
The care home staff were exceptional throughout the visit, going above and beyond to make the students  feel welcome. Their professionalism and dedication left a lasting impression on the group.
Overall, the visit was an enriching and eye-opening experience for the Year 10 students, helping them gain a deeper appreciation of the vital work carried out across the health and social care sector.
