Exams and Revision

With regard to exam preparation, pupils are given clear guidance by their subject teachers on revision techniques. All subjects offer revision, intervention and support sessions for pupils. The vast majority of our students are keen to take advantage of these sessions and make the most of these opportunities to maximise their chances of doing well.

Support with Exam Stress

As we approach exam season, we understand that this can be a stressful time for many students. We want to share some practical ways you can support your child during this period:

Encourage a Balanced Routine
Help your child maintain a healthy balance between study, rest, and leisure. Short, focused study sessions with regular breaks are often more effective than long hours without rest.

Promote Healthy Habits
Ensure they get enough sleep, eat nutritious meals, and stay hydrated. Physical activity, even a short walk, can help reduce stress and improve concentration.

Create a Calm Environment
Provide a quiet, comfortable space for revision. Reducing distractions can help your child feel more focused and in control.

Offer Emotional Support
Listen to their concerns and reassure them that effort matters as much as results. Remind them that exams are just one part of their learning journey.

Avoid Pressure
Encourage and motivate without adding extra stress. Praise their hard work and progress rather than focusing solely on grades.
If you feel your child is struggling or needs additional support, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help.

Managing Exam Stress

Exam stress can start when you feel you can’t cope with the revision, know how to revise, pressure from school or family and friends. You might worry you won’t get the grades you need for the college you want.

It’s important to recognise your stressors and be able to put strategies in place to manage these. The documents here offer help & support click Coping with Exam Stress and KOOTH Exam Tips Digital Brochure  The following links offer further support:

Year 11 Revision Timetable

On occasion, parental support is required to ensure that a student attends particular sessions. As a school we are very clear that it is staff, students and parents working together that delivers the best results for our young people and would take this opportunity to thank our pupils’ parents and carers in helping achieve this.

Year Groups

Forms will take part in Collective Worship activities and literacy and numeracy sessions. Students in each form will elect a form representative and vote for a student to represent them on the School Council. Students will also take part in regular student voice activities where they get the chance to express their feelings about issues in school.

Each year group has a Progress Leader who will take weekly assemblies and monitor the attendance, punctuality and behaviour of the students; they are assisted by a Pastoral Assistant who is non-teaching and dedicated to the physical and mental well-being of students in their year group. Year groups will have the opportunity to take part in extra-curricular activities including sports teams who play regular fixtures with other Manchester schools, school theatrical productions and trips.
