Saint Paul’s Cookery Club

The after-school Cookery Club at Saint Paul’s offers students the chance to learn cookery as an important life skill in a fun environment and at the end of each session each child takes home a meal for their family to enjoy.

As well as the school’s staff leading sessions, the students have also had the opportunity to work with professional chefs who had been teaching them valuable cookery skills.

Giving surplus food a purpose

The cookery club was set up by two members of the non-teaching staff in school, Miss Ridgway (PA to the Headteacher) and Mrs Sumner (School Caretaker) as a way of engaging students after school, the club is free for students to attend and sources good-to-eat surplus food from Fare Share, Greater Manchester.

The students involved not only learn new skills but they know they are helping the environment by preventing the food from going to waste.
