Fire Engine Pull Challenge

We’re starting the year with an exciting fundraising challenge and need your support! Meet the team of staff from St Paul’s who are taking part in an exciting fire engine pull challenge on 17th Sept to raise money for our charity partner BW3. We have just two weeks to smash our £600 target – on day one we’re already up to £58. We can do this!
BW3 works closely with our school to connect us with businesses across the community who support our students with so many exciting opportunities; some highlights from last year include: the all expenses paid Year 9 STEM trip to Switzerland, Germany & France with Endress & Hauser; the KS3 Literacy Reading Mentors; the Apprenticeship fair with two Year 11 students winning £100 each and support with Year 11 Aspirations Day and this year we have the new Year 10 and Year 7 Peer Power Hub programme for attendance.
We would appreciate any donations which you can do by clicking on the link below. We will also have some fundraising activities in school over the next week or so to help raise funds to smash our target! Get involved to support your school and BW3!

Reading Mentors

Staff and students at Saint Paul’s have been delighted by the support offered by BW3’s team of reading mentors who have been visiting the school each week.

The aim of the sessions is to encourage and develop the students’ enjoyment of reading. The mentors, volunteers from local businesses, work with their mentee until they are confident, able readers. The students celebrated their success with a pizza party in the school library.

BW3 reached out to its member businesses in the area to find employees who would like to volunteer, teaming-up with the Shannon Trust for the project, which it says can have a “marked effect” on a young person’s prospects.

Saint Paul’s Literacy Coordinator, Mr Sharrock, said: “We feel incredibly fortunate to be working with BW3 and the reading mentors. All of the students taking part in this initiative thoroughly enjoy the sessions and many have made rapid progress in such a short period of time. We are delighted to have the opportunity to work alongside businesses in our local community, and we would like to thank BW3 and all the reading mentors for the support they give to our readers at St Paul’s.”

Apprenticeship Fair Success for Year 11 Students

Congratulations to Year 11 students Imogen and Kayleigh, who were recently awarded vouchers by BW3 following their visit to the Apprenticeship Fair.

The Apprenticeship Fair, organised by BW3 in collaboration with Manchester City Council, took place at Wythenshawe Forum. This event provided students with the opportunity to explore various colleges and businesses offering apprenticeships, gaining valuable insights into their future career paths.

Imogen and Kayleigh stood out during the fair and were each awarded a £100 voucher, presented by Zara Rudkin from BW3. This recognition highlights their enthusiasm and engagement in exploring apprenticeship opportunities.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to BW3 and the other local businesses involved for their continued support of our school and students. Their contributions make a significant difference in preparing our students for their future careers.
