A group of enthusiastic readers from Saint Paul’s were recently celebrated for their positive attitude and commitment to reading with a special Pizza Party held in the school.
Saint Paul’s actively promotes a culture of reading, encouraging students to enjoy books both independently and as part of their classwork. Research consistently shows that the more students read, and the more challenging their reading material, the greater their success across all subject areas.

School Librarian Ms Savova explained:
“We ran a reading competition during the autumn term, from September until March (World Book Day), and selected the top three students in each class—those who had read the highest number of words on Accelerated Reader. In addition, teachers nominated two more students per class who may not have been the top readers, but who demonstrated real commitment, steady progress and always came prepared with a book. Their effort and attitude in every session have been outstanding.”

To celebrate their achievements, students enjoyed pizza and the chance to play Mario Kart, adding a fun and social element to the reward.

Mr Sharrock, English Teacher and Literacy Lead, added:
“We want to nurture a love of reading across the whole school and help every student discover the joy that books can bring. Incentives like this help inspire students to push themselves and take pride in their progress. It’s always a pleasure to reward those dedicated young readers who have worked so hard throughout the term.”
