Oracy – empowering students to learn both to and through speech – is becoming an increasingly important focus. At Saint Paul’s, we are committed to embedding oracy across all year groups, making for an engaging and dynamic learning environment.
One of the highlights of our oracy initiative is the upcoming oracy-themed extended assembly scheduled for later this month. This event will be the culmination of a series of speech-making lessons in English for Year 8 students. These lessons have been designed to enhance students’ speaking and listening skills, encouraging them to articulate their thoughts clearly and confidently.
Throughout the term, Year 8 students have been actively participating in various speech-making activities. These sessions have not only improved their oracy skills but also boosted their confidence and ability to engage in meaningful conversations. The extended assembly will showcase the progress they have made, providing them with a platform to demonstrate their newfound abilities.
The assembly promises to be an inspiring event, highlighting the importance of oracy. It will feature a range of speeches from students, reflecting their diverse interests and perspectives. This celebration of oracy will not only recognise the hard work of our Year 8 students but also emphasize the value of effective communication skills in their academic and personal lives.
By embedding oracy across the whole school, we aim to foster a culture of articulate and confident communicators. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to developing well-rounded individuals who can thrive in various aspects of life. We look forward to witnessing the positive impact of our oracy programme on our students and the broader school community.
