Harvest Appeal

We have an important opportunity to show our support for Afghan refugees currently staying at the airport hotel in Manchester. They are currently only given £6 a week for the cost of transport and for food which does not go a very long way at all. This is why Caritas have asked us specifically this year to only help those Afghan refugees currently granted asylum after fleeing Afghanistan since the Taliban took power several years ago.

For the Harvest Collection this year we are collecting non-perishable food items to ensure these refugees have access to culturally appropriate meals. Due to their limited resources and lack of cooking utensils, it is crucial that the food does not require cooking. Please ONLY donate the following:

Cereal
Milk (Long-life)
Afghan Bread / Naan bread
Cake / Rusk cake / Bakarkhani
Digestive Biscuits
Snacks
Dry Fruits

Most of these foods can be found on the worldwide section at your local supermarket.

Collections from 16th October – Friday 3rd November

As for the collection of these items, they need to be brought either to form in the morning or straight to the chapel porch. We will have boxes there with the sign Harvest Collection for you and your pupils to deposit the items they are able to bring in.

Your participation in this initiative will make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need. Let’s come together as a compassionate community and demonstrate our stewardship and respect for others.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Thank you for joining this effort and making a difference.
