Students v Staff Football

We held an excellent football match where the Year 11 students had challenged the Saint Paul’s staff. The students played a strong match and won 3-1.

Miss Jordan commented: “We were thrilled to welcome back our Year 11 students to compete in the annual Staff vs Year 11 football game. Unfortunately, the staff were hit by a number of injuries (or so they tell us…!) so were forced to field a depleted team. The student squad showed real resilience, using their superior fitness and pace to get around a stubborn staff defence.

The Year 11s had three good chances which saw the ball hitting the back of the net every time. Staff had a couple of opportunities, most notably the two penalties, but neither Mr Whiteside or Mr Olanipekun managed to find the target. Big congratulations to Jake who scored a brace, ensuring the Year 11s won 3-1. Despite that, the referee chose our very own Mr Wilson (PE) as the man of the match. Well done to all involved!”

It was a fantastic match with an amazing atmosphere. The Year 11s showed staff a great deal of respect but they couldn’t help their smiles when the match finished at 3 – 1 to them. There were a few tired staff on Friday night after the match and several limping staff on Monday morning!!
