Year 7 Geography Classes: Exploring Weather Patterns Through Fieldwork

Year 7 students have been actively engaged in hands-on learning as part of their geography curriculum. The focus has been on understanding weather patterns, and what better way to learn than by conducting fieldwork in the school grounds?

Armed with weather instruments such as thermometers, anemometers, and compasses, the students have been diligently measuring various aspects of the weather. This practical approach allows them to observe and record real-time data, enhancing their understanding of concepts discussed in the classroom.

Mrs Vallelly, Head of Geography, explained: “The Year 7 students learnt how to use different tools to measure temperature, wind speed, and aspect. By collecting data, the students can identify patterns and make predictions about future weather conditions.

The students were excited about the opportunity to step outside the classroom and apply their knowledge in a real-world setting. Year 7’s fieldwork activities have proven to be a valuable part of their geography education, providing practical experience and enhancing their understanding of weather patterns. This week has not only been about measuring the weather but also about inspiring young minds to explore and appreciate the world around them.”
